On-premises to Cloud DRaaS

As more and more companies move to the cloud, Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) is becoming increasingly relevant. DRaaS can be applied in multiple scenarios: the most common application is Cloud to Cloud, where both the source and the failover site are hosted in Fundaments IaaS. Another widely used scenario is a failover from an office location to Fundaments IaaS: this on-premises to Cloud DRaaS scenario offers the possibility of disaster recovery without major investments in your own hardware.

Disaster Recovery as a Service

In an increasingly digital world, data availability and protection are crucial. Because of this dependence on IT, even a short interruption can have major consequences. Interruptions can have an infrastructural cause (such as hardware, power, or connection failure), but increasingly, they are the result of cyberattacks (such as ransomware or hacking) or human error. To protect your cloud against these scenarios, Fundaments offers Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS). This is a disaster recovery service that allows you to protect both your infrastructure and data, regardless of whether it is running at your company location or is already hosted with Fundaments IaaS in one of our data centers.

On-premises to Cloud DRaaS

When failing over from a company location outside of Fundaments to Fundaments IaaS, we refer to this as on-premises to Cloud DRaaS. Fundaments can offer IaaS components with vCPU and vRAM in either an oversubscribed or fully guaranteed variant. In the oversubscribed variant, Fundaments offers a maximum oversubscription ratio of five: this means a maximum of five users can share the vCPU and RAM components. Fundaments ensures that users from the same postal code area are never bundled in the oversubscribed scenario. This minimizes the risk of simultaneous demand for shared components. By using oversubscribed components, it is possible to implement a failover at a low cost. A prerequisite is a local network with a bandwidth of at least 100 Mbps to replicate data. Replication via the internet with additional security measures such as SSL encryption and/or VPN is a commonly used scenario.

The benefits of DRaaS for physical servers

Why choose on-premises to Cloud DRaaS? We would be happy to explain. Although every company is different, and the right solution often varies, DRaaS for physical servers offers the following general benefits.

‍

Flexibility

One of the biggest advantages of DRaaS is its high level of flexibility. With DRaaS from Fundaments, you can easily scale up or down as needed, without having to invest in additional hardware or software. This increased flexibility can help you save money and ensure that your system always has the capacity to meet your needs, no matter what happens.

‍

Scalability

DRaaS is not only highly flexible, but also infinitely scalable. This means that as your business grows and changes, your DR system can grow right along with it.

Fundaments On-premises to Cloud DRaaS

As a cloud specialist, we offer two disaster recovery services: Zerto Virtual Replication and VMware Cloud Director Availability. Both DRaaS solutions are fully integrated with our Fundaments IaaS services. In the event of a test or an actual failover, recovery is performed completely automatically. With the push of a button, any environment can be failed over to the most recent point in time. The software then handles configuring the workloads to the correct network, renumbering IP addresses, and starting them in the correct sequence. The high level of integration makes configuring the service very simple.
