Storage as a Service (STaaS) from Fundaments
With Storage as a Service (STaaS) from Fundaments, you gain access to a storage platform for your business-critical data. Whether it is for archive data that you rarely access or for data you need quickly and frequently, Fundaments always has a suitable solution.
Furthermore, Fundaments takes full responsibility for management and security, so your IT team no longer needs to focus on storage administration. Fundaments ensures that the storage infrastructure is not only scalable and continuously up-to-date, but also accessible anytime, anywhere, and that you only pay for the storage you actually use.
The various Storage as a Service (STaaS) solutions
At Fundaments, you can choose from two different storage services. Which one is most suitable for your organization depends heavily on your storage needs.
File storage
The first storage service is (NetApp) file storage. File storage is the most familiar method: data is stored in files, which can be accessed via folders with a specific file structure. NetApp file storage from Fundaments comes in several types, depending on the workload:
- Archive file storage: for large volumes of archive data;
- Regular file storage: for generic workloads, such as an operating system, static web server, or domain controller;
- Fast file storage: for performance workloads, such as frequently used applications;
- Fast Plus file storage: for write-intensive workloads, such as heavily used databases.
Object storage
The second storage service is (Dell EMC) object storage. Object storage is highly scalable and has no file system limitations. Object storage from Fundaments is offered based on Dell EMC Elastic Cloud Storage: a clustered storage service where objects are made accessible via an interface that incorporates firewalling and load balancing. This type of storage is often used for large amounts of archive data, such as graphic material and log files.
High-level security
Both NetApp file storage and Dell EMC object storage offer advanced security measures to protect your data. Key security features include encryption, advanced access control, data replication, and recovery options to prevent data loss or corruption.

FAQs
STaaS is suitable for organizations of various sizes and sectors that need flexible, scalable, and cost-efficient storage solutions. It is ideal for applications such as backup and recovery, archiving, big data analytics, multimedia storage, and collaboration environments where files need to be shared. It is especially useful for organizations that want to avoid managing their own storage hardware or for companies that need to scale quickly without the complexity of traditional storage infrastructure.
Storage as a Service (STaaS) is a cloud-based storage solution where companies rent storage capacity instead of managing physical hardware themselves. It offers flexible, scalable storage based on usage, allowing organizations to pay only for the amount of storage they actually need. This differs from traditional storage solutions, where companies must purchase, install, and maintain their own servers and storage devices.
Dell EMC ECS provides scalable object storage that easily expands to manage massive amounts of unstructured data. It uses deduplication and compression to reduce storage costs and offers multi-cloud support, allowing data to be moved flexibly between different environments.
NetApp File Storage is a type of storage that saves data as files within a hierarchical structure of folders and subfolders. It provides a scalable and reliable way to manage unstructured data such as documents, images, videos, and backups. NetApp File Storage is often used by companies that want a simple way to share and manage their files, both on-premises and in the cloud.
