Firewall as a Service from Fundaments
Fundaments offers two different firewall services for you to choose from: 1) FortiGate (by Fortinet) and 2) NSX Firewall (by VMware).
What is FortiGate?
FortiGate is a powerful Next-Generation Firewall service based on Fortinet's years of expertise. Fundaments provides this firewall service as both hardware appliances and a highly available virtual machine variant. An added benefit is that this firewall can be expanded with various security features and bundles. At Fundaments, FortiGate can be purchased as either self-service or managed.
What is NSX Firewall?
VMware's NSX Firewall secures every individual Virtual Machine with a centrally managed firewall. This allows you to define exactly 'what' a Virtual Machine can communicate with and 'who' it can communicate with, all at once. Thanks to this micro-segmentation principle, all doors remain closed to hackers, while management remains simple and clear. In addition to micro-segmentation, NSX Firewall also offers load balancing, firewalling, network traffic routing, and VPN. At Fundaments, the NSX Firewall is available exclusively as a self-service firewall.
Difference between FortiGate and NSX Firewall
Do you use your application landscape in a local Virtual Datacenter (VDC)? If so, we recommend choosing the following firewall service: the NSX Firewall. VMware's seamless integration with Cloud Director ensures that management can be performed very easily from one central location. Fundaments recommends the FortiGate Next Generation Firewall if additional services are used within the VDC or when more data traffic analysis (IPS/IDS) is required. Furthermore, FortiGate Next Generation Firewall security is the best option in scenarios such as Disaster Recovery. This Fortinet firewall is also the perfect fit if you have requirements regarding IPS and IDS, or if BGP or OSPF routing needs to be applied.
