DRaaS in practice

DRaaS can be applied in multiple scenarios: the most common is Cloud to Cloud, where both the source and failover sides are hosted in Fundaments IaaS. Another widely used scenario is a failover from an office location to Fundaments IaaS: this is an on-premises to Cloud scenario. This offers the possibility of disaster recovery without large investments in your own hardware.

‍

Cloud to Cloud DRaaS

In this scenario, a failover setup is used between one of the Fundaments data center locations in the Netherlands, where a failover can be realized between any of these data centers. When failing over between Fundaments data centers, a full reservation of the IaaS components vCPU and vRAM is always made, ensuring that resources are guaranteed to be available in the event of a data center outage. In this Cloud to Cloud scenario, Fundaments can fully configure the network to the user's requirements, as the entire environment is managed entirely by Fundaments.

‍

Cloud to Cloud DRaaS as an addition to IaaS

A good backup at a location other than your own is only the first step in preventing data loss and ensuring continuity. Step two is having the right recovery environment. The recovery environment must, as it were, be a mirror of the production environment. Step three is ensuring that the right tools, processes, and people are in place when disaster recovery is needed. Choosing Cloud to Cloud DRaaS is therefore of great added value when you want to maximize the chances of recovery and continuity.
