Datacenter Services
With Datacenter Services from Fundaments, your server is securely housed in a Tier 3+ datacenter in the Netherlands through colocation and rack space. Fundaments provides 24/7 peace of mind regarding management, security, and monitoring. Naturally, independent access and management are also available options.
Datacenters in the Netherlands with geographic redundancy
Always have a fallback location, thanks to the geographic distribution of our datacenters.
You choose the location
Do you prefer your data to be in the West, Central, or East of the Netherlands (above sea level)? With Fundaments, the choice is yours.
24/7 monitoring
Always optimally secured, at any time of day.
24/7 access
A technical issue in the middle of the night? Because you can access your servers at any time, the time of an incident no longer dictates your resolution speed.
High-quality Tier 3+ datacenter locations
Your data is stored securely in the best datacenters, exclusively provided from high-quality Tier 3+ datacenter locations in the Netherlands.
Fully certified
Comply with laws and regulations thanks to full certification: NEN 7510, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, and ISAE 3402 Type I and II.
Optimal security
All components of our datacenter services are fully secured. Physical security, for example, includes strict access control. Access is not possible without approval from a person authorized by Fundaments. In addition, multi-factor authentication is used, such as fingerprint, iris, or hand scans.
Optimal performance
Beyond security, the critical factors for ensuring your hardware functions properly must also be in order. Take power, for example. In addition to using at least two different power feeds, these are uniquely protected with UPS systems. This is done to absorb power surges and to ensure a stable power supply.
Optimal climate
Cooling and humidity must also be properly maintained. When these are accurately measured and monitored, the risk of a worst-case scenario—fire—is well under control. Fundaments' Tier3+ data centers use sensors that locally monitor air composition; if elevated levels indicating a short circuit or an incipient fire are detected, the start of a catastrophe can be quickly identified and mitigated.
Optimal efficiency
As described, many factors determine the quality of a data center. Fundaments adds its own quality standard to its requirements list: data center efficiency. This is expressed as the PUE (Power Usage Efficiency) value, which indicates how much energy is required to operate the data center.
Rackspace data center
You decide how much rack space you need. If you have only one or a few servers, a cost-effective, Fundaments-managed colocation is the best choice. If you have multiple servers, you can rent half a rack (21 rack units) or a full rack (42 rack units).
Data center colocation
With Fundaments colocation, your own servers are housed in a certified data center in the Netherlands, and you receive 24/7 support. With redundant power, cooling, and 24/7 monitoring, your data is always stored securely. Another major advantage of Fundaments colocation is that you can easily connect your servers to other Fundaments services, such as Backup as a Service or Disaster Recovery as a Service. If you have multiple servers you want to colocate, or if you would like your own private rack, private rack space is the best option. You will then have 24/7 access to your rack and servers.
Redundant network connection
Fundaments has over 20 years of experience, ensuring that every set of racks consists of a fully optimized architecture. The racks can be delivered with a connection to the Fundaments network, where all existing services such as IaaS, BaaS, and DRaaS can be seamlessly integrated. In addition, Fundaments ensures that your network is redundantly connected within your racks, maximizing connectivity availability.
100% control over your data
Want to be certain where your data is stored? A sovereign cloud can guarantee that. This ensures your data remains on Dutch soil, is managed by a Dutch company—Fundaments—and provides you with full control over all your data. Fundaments IaaS is a fully Dutch platform, distributed across seven data center locations in the East, Central, and West of the Netherlands. These are all Tier3+ locations: the highest achievable class for a Dutch data center at this time. A Tier3+ data center covers every aspect of security, including guaranteed power supply, intrusion protection, water and fire detection, and climate control.
Comply with Dutch laws and regulations
With Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) from Fundaments, you comply with Dutch data storage legislation and hold all relevant certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, NEN 7510, and ISAE 3402 type I and II). Not only the IaaS service you purchase, but also Fundaments' Dutch data centers hold the same or comparable certifications. Thanks to the NEN 7510 certification, the platform is also suitable for supporting healthcare institutions.

Frequently asked questions
Fundaments ensures maximum safety and security for your servers in our Dutch data centers through strict access control, multi-factor authentication methods such as fingerprint scanning, and continuous monitoring of both physical and digital security measures.
At Fundaments Datacenter Services, you benefit from colocation and rackspace, where your servers are securely hosted in a Tier 3+ data center in the Netherlands. Colocation offers cost-effective hosting for one or a few servers, while rackspace provides the option to rent a half or full rack for large server environments.
Tier classifications are based on American standards. Data centers in the Netherlands are designed slightly differently, making classification more complex. Tier 1 and Tier 2 data centers are easy to achieve in the Netherlands. Since 99.99% availability is attainable here, Tier 3 data centers also exist. There are no Tier 4 data centers in the Netherlands because Tier 4 requires power to be supplied via two completely separate paths. In the Netherlands, we have a single power grid infrastructure, making this impossible.
To assess the availability of a data center, the American TIA-942 standard was established by the Uptime Institute in 2005. It classifies data centers into four levels: Tier 1 (Basic capacity), Tier 2 (Redundancy of major components), Tier 3 (Concurrently maintainable), and Tier 4 (Fault tolerant). These tiers indicate the guarantees and redundancy provided. The higher the classification, the better the data center's availability. Each tier builds upon the previous one; for instance, Tier 4 includes all components of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3, plus several additional requirements. There are no Tier 4 data centers in the Netherlands, where Tier 3+ is the highest achievable standard.
Fundaments works exclusively from Tier 3+ data centers. A Tier 3+ data center is currently the highest achievable class for a Dutch data center. These facilities are designed with comprehensive security in mind, featuring guaranteed power supply, intrusion protection, water and fire detection, and climate control.
With Fundaments Datacenter Services, you have 24/7 monitoring and access to your servers, giving you full control at all times and the ability to respond quickly to any outages or emergencies, regardless of the time.
Tier 3 data centers in the Netherlands offer a high level of availability and redundancy, whereas Tier 4 data centers require power to be supplied via two separate paths, which is not feasible in the Netherlands. Fundaments works exclusively with Tier 3+ data centers, which provide the highest availability and security within the Dutch context.
Datacenter Tier classifications are based on American standards and indicate guarantees and redundancy. Fundaments' Tier 3+ datacenters meet the highest standards for security, power supply, intrusion detection, fire prevention, and climate control, making them the optimal choice for companies requiring maximum reliability and availability for their IT infrastructure.
