Fundaments, Expert in Clouds, is the first in the Netherlands to achieve VMware Sovereign Cloud status. This gives Fundaments' customers—including government agencies, IT service providers, and software developers—the assurance that their data is 100% controlled, managed, and monitored by Fundaments, is stored on Dutch soil, and complies with Dutch privacy and data storage laws and regulations.

Achieving this status is a major milestone for Fundaments, which has provided cloud services exclusively from geographically separated Dutch data centers since its founding in 2000. Sovereign Cloud status as a quality seal
VMware created the Sovereign Cloud status to separate the wheat from the chaff in the cloud provider market. Through the VMware Sovereign Cloud Initiative, VMware is building a network of global cloud providers that deliver VMware Cloud Verified services using architectures based on VMware Validated Designs. To qualify, providers must demonstrate compliance with a framework of principles, best practices, and technical requirements to ensure cloud services meet the data sovereignty standards of the jurisdiction in which they operate.
