The event, Hello Blooming Overijssel, brought together students and IT companies.
Recent research shows that the willingness of IT students to stay and work in Twente after graduation is alarmingly low: only 17 percent of male STEM students intend to work at an IT company in Twente, and for female students, this is just 7 percent. Source: Tubantia.
This percentage clearly needs to increase! Fundaments is committed to retaining IT talent in the region, starting by showing students the opportunities Twente has to offer in their future field.
Hacking the Cloud
During the event, we hosted a 'Hacking the Cloud' workshop that filled up in just ten minutes. About 30 students were challenged to hack a web server as quickly as possible. It turned into an exciting competition, and we were on hand to provide tips and tricks.
Bas (20) and Lucas (17) emerged as the winners of the ethical hacking challenge. Within 51 minutes, they successfully 'broke into' the website we built specifically for this purpose. Their prize: an internship at Fundaments and a Google Home Mini Speaker! Congratulations, Bas and Lucas!
