The idea of potential foreign interference is not a pleasant one. Dark fiber is therefore particularly popular with organizations that must keep their data secure and accessible, such as government bodies, healthcare, and education. ‘That is partly why we always ensure a dual connection with physically separate routes. If one line goes down, for whatever reason, the other takes over immediately. Fundaments shares the same philosophy regarding redundancy, availability, and scalability with its servers and storage,' Iwe continues. ‘Water boards, municipalities, and other government parties really appreciate that. This level of redundancy is also interesting for larger organizations, such as logistics centers. They exchange data 24/7 between their various locations and cannot afford any downtime.’
