From data migration to data control: gaining a grip on information management with AI

This session focuses on the practical case of the Municipality of Heerenveen. The municipality sought a partner to carry out a complex data migration while simultaneously gaining better control over its information management. Using AI-driven tools, the migration was not only accelerated but also leveraged to clean up and optimize data.

In addition, we will address a broader issue recognizable to many municipalities: the lack of insight into (sensitive) data and the challenges surrounding laws and regulations. In this session, we will show how smart technology can make data transparent, structured, and classified, allowing you to demonstrably improve your information management and better align with compliance requirements.

The session offers concrete insights and practical tools to approach data migration and data management not as separate projects, but as an integrated step toward a future-proof information strategy.

Ronald Hofstra is an Information Management and ICT Advisor at the Municipality of Heerenveen and plays a central role in the organization's digital transformation. As a project leader and driver of the data migration and classification program, he focuses on future-proofing information management, governance, security, and digital work processes. With extensive experience in information management, Microsoft 365, AI applications, and municipal digitalization, he connects strategy with practical execution. Ronald is known for his pragmatic approach, broad organizational knowledge, and ability to successfully realize complex change processes.
