Fundaments is the main sponsor of rally drivers Raoul Werger and Ingo ten Vregelaar

After 10 months without rally racing in the Netherlands, the first rally of the season is finally taking place on September 19th: the Vechtdal Rally. Raoul Werger (CEO of Fundaments) is one of the participants appearing at the starting line. His co-driver Ingo ten Vregelaar and their brand-new Ford Fiesta R2 are also more than ready.

‍Raoul and Ingo have known each other for quite some time and share two things in common: an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for speed. After a fun evening, they decided to do something with this and tracked down a rally car (Peugeot 206) to gain some experience in the sport. They quickly built a great team around them, consisting of: Stefan Pot, Brynan Blauwehand, and Sander Leferink. Not long after, they purchased their current car (Ford Fiesta R2) and achieved a fantastic 2^nd place in their very first rally with it, the Hellendoorn Rally.

All in all, they now have one year of experience, which is not much, of course. To top it all off, the coronavirus pandemic hit, making it impossible to race at all. As a result, they scoured YouTube for rally videos, all of which have since been studied. A silver lining: the past six months provided the perfect opportunity to restore the car to mint condition and test it thoroughly.

Ingo is clear about what he has missed most lately: “Actually everything, because racing is in our blood. I miss spending the whole weekend on the road with the team and, of course, the thrill of a competition the most. Besides that, we are still quite new to this sport and have a lot left to discover.”

Although this year's official championships have been completely cancelled, Raoul and Ingo are still driving in a number of rallies. Raoul: “We want to gain experience, and this is the perfect opportunity to do so. In addition to the Vechtdal Rally, we are also participating in the ACtronics Achterhoek Rally (October 3rd) and the Conrad Twente Rally (October 25th). The Dutch championships will be back next year!”

The car driven by Raoul and Ingo has also undergone a major transformation in terms of appearance and has been given a brand-new livery.
