What exactly does Pinewood do?
Richard: “We provide specialist security services and products that increase the resilience and safety of our clients. Through our Security Operations Center (SOC) and advisory services, we identify risks before they cause harm, ensuring our clients are resilient against digital threats and prepared for the future.”
How did you find Fundaments?
Sebastiaan: “We were looking for a new platform for our SOC environment, on which we run a SIEM that collects a vast amount of data. Specifically, we were looking for a secure Private Cloud platform. Essentially, to be able to analyze that data properly, quickly, and securely.”
Richard: “Scalability was particularly important to us. We wondered how we could achieve something like this affordably and within the Netherlands. The fact that all our data is stored in the Netherlands is also an increasingly common requirement from our clients. We quickly arrived at the sovereign Cloud from Fundaments.”
How would you describe the partnership between Pinewood and Fundaments?
Richard: “We have been working together for over a year now, and we have found exactly what we were looking for in a Cloud provider: continuity. We work with mission-critical data, so it is essential that Fundaments' services are always available. And it’s not just the services, but the people as well. The Fundaments team is there for us whenever we need them.”
What does mission-critical data mean to you?
Richard: “It’s essentially all of our clients' data, because without data, we can’t do anything. Data loss is our biggest risk. We safeguard data for many clients, of course; if that data is no longer available, we can no longer monitor the client, and things could go completely wrong. It’s a whole chain of actions. For me, mission-critical means that all data must be available at all times to perform our work.”
Sebastiaan: “For us, the sovereign Cloud is simply the go-to platform for analyzing our clients' data—the mission-critical data—and delivering a reliable service.”
What does Fundaments solve for you?
Richard: “Fundaments takes the technical burden off our shoulders. We purchase the entire infrastructure up to the OS layer from Fundaments, as well as Backup as a Service. I don’t want to have to think about purchasing servers or storage; I want a portal where I can keep building without interruptions. Thanks to Fundaments, we no longer have to buy or rent anything; we can just keep going with a few clicks in the portal. This saves us a lot of time and reduces staffing costs. Previously, we had colleagues dedicated to setting up or purchasing servers and storage, but now we can focus purely on the functional side of our SIEM package, while the technical side is handled by Fundaments. Additionally, the price difference compared to, for example, Microsoft was also very significant.
What does the future hold for Fundaments and Pinewood?
Richard: “We are seeing more and more expansion and collaboration, and I expect an increasing amount of outsourcing for our technical layer. We still manage a portion ourselves, but we want to migrate that to Fundaments as quickly as possible because we are confident that it is in safe hands there and that everything will be handled properly.
