Fundaments supports Enschede youth with generous donation

Raoul Werger, CEO at Fundaments: “Fundaments’ slogan is 'GO BEYOND. BE THE BEST'. Last year, thanks to our donation, many children in Enschede were able to get the best out of themselves. We have decided to donate another €2,000 to the Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Enschede this year, because unfortunately, it is still not a given that all children can afford sports, music, or art lessons. This is vital for talent development, and we are happy to contribute to it.”

Jorrit van der Linden, coordinator at Stichting Leergeld and Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Enschede: “Every year, we help nearly 3,000 children in Enschede, processing thousands of applications with our volunteers and staff. Beyond providing resources, we want to help children participate in sports and cultural activities. Sports and culture enrich lives and allow children to discover new talents.

That is why we work with sports organizations, and we have recently established a partnership with cultural institutions in Enschede. They had put together an attractive offer for the Christmas period. The tightened COVID measures have put a damper on this, as visiting a museum or theater is unfortunately not possible right now. What will likely still go ahead is a ski trip for 90 children in collaboration with Skicentrum Moser, ROC, and Sportaal.

Also continuing are several fantastic activities offered by the culture and development institution Tetem. Children can craft at home with a tech kit or create a 3D chocolate design from their own computer to be sent to their homes. This gives children a fun and educational activity, and who knows, they might become so fascinated by technology that they join the Fundaments team in the future.

Next year, many more resources will undoubtedly be provided and fun, educational activities offered. The Fundaments donation helps make this possible, and we are incredibly happy about it! It is wonderful to see how socially engaged Fundaments is and what a magnificent contribution they make!”

About Stichting Leergeld and Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Enschede

Making ends meet can be a real challenge. As a result, children sometimes cannot participate in extracurricular activities. Together with their parents, Stichting Leergeld helps children in Enschede. Parents can, for example, request a bicycle, computer, school bag, or gym clothes, or apply for coverage for swimming lessons, school trips, or study weeks.

The Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur (part of Stichting Leergeld Enschede) covers membership fees for sports or cultural clubs, such as music or dance lessons, as well as soccer, judo, or gymnastics. They also ensure children have the right clothing and equipment. By covering these costs, children can optimally develop their knowledge, social and emotional skills, and talents to participate fully in society as adults.
