In conversation with: Huub Stiekema, Lieke Hamers, and Jill Mulder at Zorg & ICT
During Zorg & ICT 2025, we sat down with Huub Stiekema (CIO), Lieke Hamers (Field CTO at Dell Technologies Netherlands), and Jill Mulder (CEO at Genus Care) to discuss key developments at the intersection of technology and healthcare.

Huub Stiekema on the power of data
In an era where data is critical, it’s essential to understand how we can use, manage, and protect it. After all, data availability drives better decision-making, efficiency, and innovation. Data sovereignty allows us to maintain control over our data and comply with legal requirements in the Netherlands.
At Zorg & ICT, Huub shared insights on how these two concepts—availability and sovereignty—complement each other and why a strategic approach to data management is essential.

Lieke Hamers (Field CTO, Dell Technologies Netherlands) on Generative AI
The honeymoon phase of Generative AI is over—now comes the hard part: scaling. While pilots are relatively easy to build, turning them into scalable business solutions is a much bigger challenge. According to recent research, only 11% of companies have implemented Generative AI at scale (McKinsey report).
For CIOs, the key to success lies in focusing on the right use cases. Eliminate the noise—stop spreading resources across too many experimental pilots. Instead, concentrate on those use cases that have clear business impact and are technically feasible.
And remember: every AI or GenAI application is only as powerful as the data it relies on. Maximizing AI impact starts with having access to the right data. Often, your most valuable data resides on-premises or at the edge—where it needs to be securely and quickly accessible.
The key to scaling Generative AI successfully? Focus your efforts where they truly matter.

Jill Mulder (CEO, Genus Care) on how technology connects caregivers and healthcare professionals
The aging population and staffing shortages in healthcare are well-known challenges. But what’s next?
The role of informal caregivers is becoming increasingly vital, requiring a shift in mindset among seniors, caregivers, and healthcare organizations. A holistic care solution—where informal caregivers have a clear and active role—is essential.
Today’s clients want a single system to communicate across care domains, send alerts, and monitor their daily routines—even when moving from independent living to a care facility.
Adopting new technologies brings challenges—not only for the elderly, but also for healthcare professionals who want to focus on the human side of care. That’s why innovative solutions must be not only practical but also socially valuable, easy to use, and aligned with the social needs of all users.
At Zorg & ICT, Jill Mulder spoke about the technologies already available today—and the developments shaping the future of elderly care.
